QWAK,somthing to concider?

QWAK,I was just doing some plumbing work here at the DUCK NEST and thought I would mention somthing that may also be a good thing to stock pile. CPVC pipe and fittings!:bull-buddy-icon:

Both 1/2" and 3/4" are going up in price conciderably and will always be usefull both in maintaining your home plumbing and likely as traid/barter supplies.

They also make great TOYS for the kids to play with as they asemble like tinker toys and allow them to use their IMAGINATIONS to create new things. Once they have out grown or no longer play with the pieces of CPVC pipe and fittings they can still be used as intended and likely will have even become MORE valuable.:thinkey:

Pipes are allways good to have........... any type of essential commiditie is going through the roof in the next 18 months or so....

I would rather have my wealth in PVC pipes than in fiat!!! that is how much distaste I have for big ben and the boys.

I really miss the old days when I used iron and copper pipe to do plumbing work. Even worked with lead some. Now that was plumbing!

QWAK,Elijah,Till I got the cabin I never used plastic pipe for any thing and concidered it, TINKER TOY PLUMBING.

Thing is the stuff works but it won't last for ever and does get britle over time but It is simple to fix when it does break.

You are right about the GLUE, not shure what the shelf life is but it seems every time I want to do a project the glue has thickened or is unusable. I buy several small cans and never had the problem since then so unopened they last a lot longer perhaps 3 years?

I am wondering if the solvent could be bought in bulk and how it would store?

I buy liter fluid by the gallon that way and refill the cans, NAPTHA is cheep ---- lighter fluid in little cans is NAPTHA! :thinkey:

Yep.....the glue is the problem. I've only ever used CPVC supply in one house, and didn't like it because of just what you said Duck....get's brittle with a little age ( not even much age in the case of the hot water lines ). So, I went to copper after that, and have LOTS of copper fittings/pipe/solder/flux around. Copper is nearly as simple to work with as plastic with a little practice.

QWAK,andy,I love copper but when I bought a roll of 5/8 last year to add on my wood fired hot tub heater the price was out ragious! I am begining to think I should move my copper fittings in to the VAULT!

BTW:Years ago when copper was cheep scrap I made lots of things like towel racks. When polished and clear coated they look very nice and an easy project that is SOooooooooooo much better than BUYING from one of the CHINA BIG BOX stores and will actualy INCREASE in VALUE! :thinkey:

One day that copper could buy dinner, who knows :questionm:questionm but till then it is serving a good purpose and such projects save FRNS and I wind up with somthing even BETTER than you can buy.
